MEET JULIE

The ancients, the stories, the grief, the triumph, and the designed connection.

JULIE LOCATIS JEWELRY DESIGNER, ARTIST &

Equipped with faith and raw courage, I chose to step into the truth of knowing that I have been blessed with a gift and I am honored to share it. In a world of excess where we already have too much, receiving can be more of a burden than a blessing. My collections don't feel that way. My work is about sentiment; it symbolizes love, loss, accomplishment, hope, and one's personal journey.

My inspiration is fueled by my family and friends, their strength, and their passions. The kind of strength I watch as they survive the loss of a spouse and the kind of passion that it takes to revitalize a beloved small town. When I witness life-changing events like these and so many more... a beautiful composition takes shape inside my soul and I must create something to honor it. For me, this is what design is all about: curating exclusive pieces that connect. These pieces become timeless treasures and tangible reflections of the journey and the memories.

At War With the Wind is the title of the book that includes a description of my grandfather's heroism as he saved lives, extinguished fires, and survived a kamikaze air attack at sea. He was a war hero with a survivor's burden to carry, but he did not let that define him. He accepted the emotional trauma, yet chose every opportunity to rise above the stress and heartache in order to see the joy in life. He was hopeful, brave, and always put his heart into all he did. A friend to everyone he met, he was a hero to me,  my grandmother, and so many others.

After he passed, I witnessed the comfort and peace that came to my grandmother every time she needed it. It came in the form of a feather.  Time and time again, feathers would gently, yet continually come to her and she knew, without hesitation, that he sent them to her. She believed in and found strength in that connection. She was able to continue on and be strong for the remainder of her life without him. I eventually lost my grandmother but I knew the feathers would now come to me. I, too, would be able to tap into that connection. Yes, the feathers do come to me, flowing like quiet, yet powerful reminders that what can seem like the impossible is actually very possible.

As I hand-craft each piece and watch the magical connection take shape, I take comfort knowing I'm living out my calling --one graceful design at a time.
