The Mia Weekender Bag

When we discussed this commissioned gift, we talked about making a bag that would be durable, personal, and sleek. It would need to be a bag that would be larger than a purse but not as heavy and bulky as a duffle bag. It should be something that would fit the essentials for a weekend away, perhaps make a great carry on when flying, and/or something to just throw in the car for a quick pre/post race change of clothes. The design should be timeless, modern, simple but luxurious. The leather and fabric materials would be monochromatic in style. We chose a black greek-key embossed leather, black crocodile embossed leather, and the lining would be black windowpane cashmere. Finished with natural brass hardware and a multilayered/textured pocket inside that would incorporate a tiny pop of color. The strap should be adjustable so it could be carried as a shoulder or crossbody bag. A noteworthy addition to the bag includes a leather feather key chain and removable bottom with a center-sewn leather feather. These feathers are part of my signature, as each is made through an extensive hand tooled process. I also made a few extra feathers from the same materials to be gifted to members of the race team. The dust cover, it is made of durable Kevlar fabric and finished with a made in the USA belt buckle style closure to symbolize the Austin, TX race location.
